Additionally, she conducted independent research for her senior thesis on the role of abortion legality on Texas medical students’ residency-decision making and her research was selected for presentation at the Society of Family Planning’s Annual Conference in 2022. Earlier this year, she gained frontline clinical experience working as a Reproductive Health Assistant for Planned Parenthood. Eva is excited to re-engage with reproductive health research and contribute to the Reproductive Equity Action Lab’s vital mission to conduct research that identifies and addresses disparities that are barriers to reproductive justice.
What is your favorite thing to nerd out about?
I am kind of obsessed with rabies: I have listened to far too many podcast episodes on the story of the first person to survive a rabies infection (Wisconsin teenager Jeanna Giese, bitten by a bat in 2004).
What is your favorite hobby or pastime?
I love to read! Recent favorites are Babel by R.F. Kuang and James by Percival Everett. As of July 2024, I have read 37 books this year so far!
What’s your favorite outdoor activity?
Hiking! In September of 2023 I hiked a 100-mile section of the Pacific Crest Trail in California (and spent a lot of time lying supine on the trail as I adjusted to the altitude).
