Biography

Yulissa is a medical student at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. At REAL, she is a Graduate Research Assistant, supporting qualitative data collection. She earned her undergraduate degree in Nutrition from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and her Masters in Public Health from the University of Southern California. Before starting medical school, she worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator in the Division of Nephrology at Stanford Medicine. She is interested in population health and clinical research.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to make movies when I grew up but when I was 10 I changed my mind and decided I wanted to be a physician.

What is your favorite thing to nerd out about?
I am an ocean lover and enjoy nerding out about ocean conservation and whales.

What’s your favorite outdoor activity?
My favorite outdoor activity is kayaking.
