Sara Nelson

Biography

Sara Nelson is a recent graduate of the Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her interests lie in the intersection of reproductive health, reproductive justice, and mental health. During her coursework, she fulfilled her internship MSW degree requirement with REAL, with Dr. Laura Swan as her primary mentor. In her role at REAL, she has continued supporting Dr. Swan’s research on coercion in contraceptive care. Sara additionally supports REAL’s diverse portfolio of research.

Sara also has a BA in communications from the University of Iowa and comes to REAL with a background in marketing and communications.


What do you collect?
I collect houseplants. I currently have about 20 different plants and am always on the hunt for more.

What is your favorite hobby or pastime?
In my free time, you can almost always find me reading. Or adding books to my ever-growing TBR.

What is your favorite thing to nerd out about?
Plants, books, and reality TV.
