Mikaela Miller earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and a certificate in Adolescent and Childhood Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Previously, her research has focused on executive functioning in neurodivergent children and provider-level experiences with pediatric complex care units. Based in Orlando, Florida, Mikaela works full-time as a clinical research coordinator at Nemours Children’s Health in the Center for Health Care Delivery Science (CHDS), an innovative and unique community of investigators that uses diverse methods from family and learning health systems science, behavioral science, implementation science, informatics, health policy and behavioral economics with a goal to build a strong base of scientific evidence about how health care can best be delivered, equitably, to foster the healthiest generation of children.
At the Reproductive Equity Action Lab (REAL), Mikaela primarily supports the Birth Cost Recovery research project. She led interviews with Black parents who are impacted by the Wisconsin policy and is now supporting qualitative coding and analysis.
Mikaela plans to apply for graduate programs in Clinical Psychology with a neuropsychology specialty. She is passionate about working with children and families and centers minority populations and people of color in her work.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a preschool/elementary school teacher!
